Bulletins

An extension bulletin containing data from commercial entries is published each Fall in the Iowa Crop Performance Alfalfa Tests - Alfalfa and Other Forages. The purpose of testing commercial varieties is to provide Iowa farmers and extension personnel with information on the performance of alfalfa and other forage crop varieties in the state. Data from commercial varieties only, is presented in easy to understand tables, showing yield in tons/acre on a dry matter basis. We do not include seeding year data. You will also find information on our locations, field plot methodology, fertilization, seed sources, dormancy and disease resistance ratings.
